Music News and Band Reviews

What are the Burning Skies about?

Burning skies are from the  UK they have been inspirational to the rock music industry!  Drawing influences from many different genres of heavy music. The group was created in mid  2002, however the lineup was not fully completed until Dec `02.

The picture below shows the last line up of the band.

At first the group only intended to play gigs where they live, however after performing a few gigs lifeforce records received a copy of ”a premonition of things to come” and signed the band up!

Fury Fanzine LOVES the Burning Skies

”I had been looking farward to this gig for quite a while nowand expected it to be good
as soon as it was announced. i didn’t however expect it to be as good as it actually
turned out to be. I arrived at the venue a matter of seconds before Bristol’s own
Burning Skies (farmiliar to many of you i’m sure) hit the stage and being the first time i
was seeing them i was actually quite excited. They didn’t disapoint me, and seemingly
everyone else in this intimate London dive. Their vicious brand of metallic hardcore
was the perfect opening for a gig of this nature, pummeling London into submission
with a full force 30 minute attack. Killer stuff, come back soon!

All in all this was one of the gigs of the year. An awesome showing from 2 of America’s
finest extreme metal acts, and one of the UK’s brightest new hardcore bands. Lets
hope gigs like this become a habit.”

What’s the Burning Skies Best Album?

Our Team have voted that ‘Murder By Means Of Existence’ is their best album!

This what a review on http://www.cduniverse.com  said about the album:
”Just when you thought there couldn’t be any more musical terms containing the word “core” — as in hardcore, grindcore, rapcore, and metalcore — yet another “core” term has been gaining ground in Western Europe. The term is deathcore, which is how England’s Burning Skies has described Murder by Means of Existence. What is deathcore? In the case of this totally ferocious CD, it’s essentially metalcore, which isn’t to say that Burning Skies is an exact replica of American metalcore bands like Brick Bath, Hatebreed, and Throwdown — they’re similar, certainly, but not identical. Drawing on both death metal and hardcore, Burning Skies’ vocals fluctuate between the tortured screaming that metalcore is known for and the deep, guttural growls of death metal. Arguably, deathcore as practiced by Burning Skies and similar bands is a European variation of American metalcore. But whether you choose to describe Murder By Means of Existence as deathcore or metalcore — and perhaps both terms are applicable — there is no getting around the fact that this is a very nasty, vicious, bruising sledgehammer of a CD. Burning Skies never pretends to be the least bit subtle; Murder By Means of Existence is, pure and simple, an exercise in sensory assault for the sake of sensory assault. These residents of Bristol, England (as opposed to Bristol, PA), do not believe in taking prisoners; they kick, punch, beat, batter, and pummel the listener into submission and do so without an iota of remorse. For those who don’t have a taste for extreme metal — which is certainly an acquired taste — none of that would sound very appealing. But for those who do, this 2004 release accomplishes exactly what it’s meant to accomplish — that is, offering an exciting dose of pure, raw, over the top exhilaration.” ~ Alex Henderson

What’s happening with Burning Skies?

So we all have been wondering, what the HELL are Burning skies up to?

Well, news around the music scene is affirming that the Burning Skies might be getting back together. After a recent split earlier this year, it was written in a review that three of the band memebers are thinking of creating  and possibly renaming the group.
Is this true or not? Let us know what you have heard and we will continue to update this post!
